DMX Productions is proud to have worked with Punjabi singer, actor, and television presenter Diljit Dosanjh for the second time, continuing our longstanding relationship with the artist himself and promoter Moxiebox. The four-date tour took Diljit Dosanjh from Birminghamâs BarclayCard Arena, to Leicesterâs DeMontford Hall, London Wembley, and the Leeds First Direct Arena.
Tickets for the BarclayCard Arena date sold out swiftly, confirming the fact that Dosanjh is the worldâs biggest Punjabi superstar, with a fan base to rival that of Justin Beiber.
Dosanjh has demonstrated a love for music throughout his life and has made an indelibte mark on the Punjabi music industry. Considered a heartthrob by thousands of young Punjabis, Dosanjh began his professional music career in his early teens. “Ishq da Uda-Adaa” put Dosanjh on the map in 2003 with Finetone Cassettes, and he hasnât looked back since. Soon songs like “Dil Saade naal”,”Paggan pochhveeyan”, “Allraahaan Kuwariyan”, “Daaka” became major anthems on dancefloors across the globe, extending Dosanjhâs reach from his native India. Dosanjh is known as an artist for whom success has only brought humility, something that makes him enduringly popular with fans.
Since 2014, when Dosanjh embarked on his sell-out debut UK tour where he showcased massive hits from his album Back to Basics, he has continued to garner acclaim with takcs including âPatiala Pegâ, âVeervaarâ, âJatt Fire Kardaâ, his blockbuster collaboration with the living legend Gurdas Maan âKi Banu Duniya Daâ, and the current heavy weight Bhangra anthem â5 Taaraâ.
Dosanjh is an incredibly prolific and hardworking star, and has also been busy with his successful acting career. His blockbuster hits include âPunjab 1984â and âSardaar Jiâ, and he is currently preparing for the release of his next massive project âAmbarsariyaâ.
Fans were treated to stunning live concert experiences, with a full band featuring Tru-Skool and the kind of stage production that has never been witnessed before on a Punjabi tour in the UK. For DMX Productions, it was an opportunity to showcase our new LED video wall, a huge 8m x 8m square, featuring custom graphics and live camera feeds. The video wall made up the centerpiece of the production design, while the lighting rig consisted of a large number of Robe, Martin, and Elation fixtures. The design was created by DMX Productions Director SJ Grevett and operated by Jack Pettit on an Avolites Tiger Tour Pro. The tourâs crew boss was Mark Baruch.
Purdy Bhogal was the Front of House Engineer, mixing on a Soundcraft Vi, withSam White on monitors running a PM5d. During the tour we deployed main hangs of D&B J Series, D&B Q Series, and LâAcoustics K2. On stage, we utilized EV XW15 monitors with Sennheiser IEMS and D&B Q Series side fills. The tour required a real âwow factorâ and special effects were a huge part of the production. We used 5 OPS lasers under the expert direction of Dan and Andy, and the downstage edge was lined with Co2 Jets, confetti and streamer cannons, flame machines, and an array of pyrotechnics. Upstage, we had Jem Glaciators providing low smoke for key songs.
Fans took to Twitter to express their views on the UK tour, with users commenting on the high production values and describing Dosanjhâs performance as âmesmerizingâ. DMX Productions hopes to keep our special relationship with Diljit Dosanjh and Moviebox as strong as ever.
